CCTV Drain Surveys

We employ the very latest in colour CCTV survey equipment to boldy go where no human can – or would want to! We are able to inspect pipes from 25mm to 120mm diameter. Fibre-optic cables with a tiny camera at the end are fed through your system. You will see the condition of the pipes and if there are any blockages etc.

Drain Jetting

Our pressure jets will make short work of any blockage in your drains!

Waste Disposal

Dyfi Waste is a registered waste handler and offers a full service covering most common types of waste. If you have an unusual type of waste, call to see if we cover it. All waste is tracked and documented. We can help you meet all of your obligations under the latest environmental legislation.

Septic Tank Installation/Emptying

See Septic tank page.

Cess Pits

A cess pit is a sealed underground tank where all the sewage from a property is stored. You can use one if you can’t use a septic tank because you can’t drain the liquid away. Dyfi waste can install cess pits in any size property, or replace existing ones. Our services include the necessary drains. The cess pit must be emptied when full – approximately monthly. Approval to construct a cesspool is required from the Local Authority under the Building Regulations.

Repairs and Refurbishment

Make it last

Dyfi Waste’s experience has shown that on some occasions it is possible to refurbish existing systems to extend their life. This may involve the structural / mechanical / electrical elements of the works, or other aspects.

These schemes can offer considerable financial savings.

For example, common symptoms are that the drain blocks up, and you may not be able to flush the toilet ¥ or perhaps only infrequently. There may be a lingering smell of drains around your property. Perhaps there is black smelly water in a nearby ditch. Common solutions are frequent emptying of the septic tank, which can be expensive, or reduced use of washing facilities.

Neither of these remedies is tolerable for very long!

The underlying cause of the problem is generally insufficient percolation capacity in the soil in the vicinity of the septic tank. Dyfi Waste specialises in finding the most effective and economical solution for your property.

The first step is a proper site survey and evaluation.

Dyfi Waste will give you a full report with recommendations and costings.

Soakaways

And the most frequent solution is maintenance or replacement of soakaways from septic tanks. Blockages are usually caused by insufficient percolation capacity in the soil in the vicinity of the septic tank. Dyfi Waste can revitalise the system through attention to the groundworks. Dyfi Waste specialises in finding the most effective and economical solution for your property.

The first step is a proper site survey and evaluation.

Reed Beds

Dyfi Waste can install reed bed systems to process your sewage and provide a pleasant wildlife habitat. Our service includes the necessary drains. A reed bed sewage treatment system can successfully treat sewage to the required standards. It requires more land space than a septic tank but provides a beautiful environment for wildlife. It usually comprises of a settlement tank to remove solids, followed by either vertical or horizontal flow lined beds holding phragmites reeds. These reeds’ roots support bacteria that process the effluent and transfer oxygen so the process is odour-free. The resulting water will be almost clean and can be discharged to a land drain or watercourse (subject to Local Authority and Environment Agency consent.) Willows or other trees and plants may be planted after the reed beds to take up the nutrients. It works without power, if an adequate fall is available. The only maintenance usually required is annual emptying of the tanks.

Greywater Systems

Dyfi Waste can install greywater systems for dealing with the water from your washing facilities (not toilets). The water is processed and able to irrigate and feed otherwise lost nutrients to your land. Using such a system also eases the pressure on a cess pit or septic tank. Systems typically consist of a grease trap, dosing basin, effluent pump, water level controls, and covered irrigation troughs. They are easy to maintain. As greywater flows into the dosing basin, level controls in the dosing basin engage the effluent pump to fill irrigation troughs, bringing greywater evenly to the surrounding vegetation. Water, soap residue, and the small organic particles carried in greywater are brought directly to plant roots and soil organisms, which make use of the total contents of greywater. Dyfi Waste will give you a full site evaluation with recommendations and costings, and can provide all the engineering, plumbing and installation services.
